Exploring Idanre Hills

HELLO STEEMIANS, I want to share with us one of my travel experience to one of the adventurous cities in the South West of Nigeria.

A community with lots of Hills to explore and religious attributes. Fascinating sites with nature.

Idanre is a community with great fauna and flora located in the South West part of Nigeria. Idanre is located in Ondo state, of Nigeria.

It is a place with several hills around surrounding a small outlet, and a community at the top of an hill called Idanre.

The people of Idanre are known for their hunting and farming.

At the entrance of the community, you find great rocks on your left and right side of the road, this forms a gate into the community

To get to the top of the hills, you start your journey up by first climbing 660 steps, with five resting points along the way.

It has a stream where warriors drink from before going to war, drinking it through his palms. Whoever can not drink water from this stream with one of his palm can’t go to war. The water from this stream gives strength. This stream is called ”Omi Apara” (Thunder’s Stream).

They also have another river at the top of the hill, which serves as a healing place for many. People drink the water and also bath in it for healing. It is known as ”Arun River”.

Another fascinating place in this community is the Agbogun foot print. Where the footprint of a great warrior known as Agbogun has his footprint imprinted on the rock because of his power.

Amazingly, you will see a rock with a writing on it’s side which is unreadable. They call it the Unreadable Letters.

Idanre is such a beautiful and attractive land to be. Amazing rocks, especially if you like the hilly environments
You still can’t exhaust the hills, there are several parts of the hills people haven’t explored.
