A walk in Bulgaria #34 Plovdiv- The darker side of Bulgaria

Plovdiv is the second biggest city in Bulgaria. In the town is situated the biggest ghetto in the country- Stolipinovo. Inside live officially around 60.000 people of gypsy roots. The unofficial data for their number is more than 100.000 people. The whole area is huge and it is one of the most poluted and dirty places in the country. The government is trying hard to integrate these people and to give them free homes and healthcare, but they ruin every attempt for help.

I love my country, but I wanted also to show you the other side of the beautiful Bulgaria- Plovdiv. It is a dangerous area for the tourists and the local people with the biggest numbers of crimes in the country. So, I wanted you to take a look and a quick tour inside this ghetto, so you will never have to go there by yourself and expose yourself to danger and diseases.

Inside Stolipinovo there is the biggest illegal fake alcohol brewery in the Balkans and also many drug labs to export their products not only in Bulgaria, but also in whole Europe.

It is a colorful place, but I think its only good to see it on photos. And as they say the gypsies from Plovdiv are the poorest and lowest educated people in Bulgaria, but at least they are happy.
