Hello steemers!
Today I am back from one of the most mystical and beautiful places in Bulgaria- the area of Belogradchik. The city of Belogradchik (translated as "white rocks") is situated in a very gorgeous place in the north of Bulgaria. It is known with its rock formations, which attract tourists from all over the world.
Here is some short history of the place, as well with some pictures, hope you like it!

The historic path of the city is laid with the first steps of the homo sapiens of the European continent. Steps that go not somewhere else, but in the immediate vicinity - in the Kozarnika cave. And they lead centuries of prosperity for these lands.
The history of the town starts with a Thracian observation tower. The first traces of settlements were revealed in the village of Selishte. In the immediate vicinity of the Brezova River, the foundations of a Roman bath are characterized by the characteristic facilities. The coin finds are also rich. The earliest are from the time of Bethesian (69-79 AD), and the latter are from Valerian (251-253 AD). This gives grounds for the emergence of the settlement until the end of the 3rd c.
The late antiquity is evidenced by materials from the Belogradchik fortress ("First Plate"), the Uzbek kelp, Maggas and Markanashishko Kale.

In the early Middle Ages, there was a tendency for the Brestovo resettlement and the establishment of its inhabitants near the rocks and the fortress shelter. Here they find safer shelter and protection and set the foundations of today's city. Remnants of clay furnaces (XII-XVI centuries), plumbing, building materials, and especially the mint find, including 13 silver coins by Ivan-Alexander and his son Michael, speak of increased economic activity.

In the sixties and seventies of the sixteenth century, when the Vidin kingdom of Ivan Sratsimir was formed in Northwest Bulgaria, the city grew as an important military-administrative and craft center with a main fortification and a priory.
The fall of the Vidin Kingdom in 1396 under Ottoman rule adversely affects the natural development of Belogradchik. However, it retains its importance as the administrative center of the Nakhiya.

During the period under review, the rock city is called Brestovo, Belgrad, and Belgrade. For the first time the name Belogradchik dates back to 1737 when the Austrian commander Kevenhueler's troops crossed the Cassabosh Pass from Nis to Vidin and one of his troops was fighting the Turks near Belogradchik. Military actions are being developed in the area, now called "Karlovy Vary", under the name of a fallen Austrian officer. The unit has the task of taking over the "Heights and the fortress in the town of Beyazchik".

Some interpret the name "Beyazchik" from "beyaz" (Turkish white) and "ačik" (openly, obviously). This is an inexorable transcription of the word Belogradchik, which came to the Austrians from a Turkish source. To Beyazchik, too, is the name of the town in the Bulgarian inscription of the Belogradchik Fortress, namely Belogradchik or Belichik, as the local population pronounced the name of the city during the period under review. Apparently this is Belogradchik's convenient everyday use, what is then the real name of the city.
