Moravian Karst, Czech Republic - one of the most important karst areas of Central EuropesteemCreated with Sketch.

Hello fellow steemians,

Those of you who saw my post from yesterday in colorchallenge might be curious about the Moravian Karst that I mentioned briefly. Moravian Karst is protected landscape area of about 92km2 and is one of the most important karst areas of Central Europe. In the area of Moravian Karst, there are more than 1100 caverns and gorges. But only 4 caves of the all number are open to public. There are Punkvevni jeskyne (Punkva Caves) with their underground river – during the cruise you can see there the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss. Another cave is Katerinska jeskyne with its unique limestone columns. The Balcarka Cave is full of colorful stalactitic decoration. Sloupsko-sosuvske jeskyne are made by huge corridors and underground gorges. Very remarkable for all visitors is view to Macocha Abyss from two platforms – the Upper and Lower foot bridge. In the central part of Moravian Karst, Rudicke propadani is the main place to visit, where river called Jedovnický potok suddenly disappears into the caves and comes out in Byci Skala close to village Josefov after its 12 km long mysterious journey. Since 1956, due to its extraordinary karst phenomena and precious fauna and flora, the Moravian Karst has been protected area.

Moravian Karst is the perfect place for nature lovers and to escape the city. If you do have spare time when visiting the Czech Republic it is a great place to spent a day. There are many other amazing places on the way there or in the close vicinity that are absolutely gorgeous as well. Feel free to get in touch with me if you need help planning your trip or itinerary. I will be more than happy to help you out.

Have a great day everyone and STEEM on!

Not that easy... it is around 2 hour train ride out of Prague but then you would need to get on the bus.... renting a car or a profesional driver guide would be better.....

Lovely nature, amazing pictures, and great post. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks ever so much for your kind words.
