7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - South American Saturday week #6 - the absolute winner takes 150 SBD!

Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - South American Saturday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 150 SBD! Today you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to a continent of South America.

Your entries need to be submitted by the midnight of Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Please make sure to add a proper descritpion to your entry as this was the reason on few occasionas when I could not pick the best image as it had a very poor description. Only one picture to be submitted for a daily photo challenge. The rule number one is to use only personal images. Ten winning photos will receive an upvote from me from which I will pick one winner that will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts.
The winner of daily challenge then competes against winners from other continental challenges of the respective week to receive the price of 15 SBD. That will be decided by you based on the dollar value of upvotes of my winning post announcement. The winning weekly picture then automatically enters other rounds for the price of 150 SBD in total.

Cordillera Mountain Ranges
This photo was taken at highest peak of Mount Pulag which is the second highest mountain peak in the Philippines. We had to hike for 3 hours before getting to the campground and we had to take another 2 hours hike from the campground to the peak. It was raining throughout our hike so it wasn't pleasant as we wanted it to be but in the end, it was worth to see the beautiful sunset. We could see the Cordillera mountain ranges along with the golden clouds lying around the valleys.

This shot was taken on our first Australia Trip back in 2013. It shows the "Three Sisters" in the Blue Mountains National Park which is about 2 hours drive from Sydney. The Blue Mountains are the perfect location for hiking.

This is a favorite photo of mine I've always wanted to post somewhere and this challenge is the perfect place for it! This is a photo of the Baltic Sea taken in 2009. I was aboard an overnight ferry connecting Stockholm to Tallinn, Estonia. Nothing really compares to an overnight ferry, a great way to travel. This was sunrise before docking in Tallinn. I think I love this photo because I have such wonderful memories of the trip!

Zanzibar, an island off the coast of and part of Tanzania, is one of my favorite locations I've visited in Africa. There are so many beautiful, colorful boats, many waiting for the tide to come back in like these. The natural beauty of the island along with the historic Stone Town make it a great destination in East Africa.

We took this photo when we visited Milan Duomo (Milan Cathedral). There were options to take the stairs or the lift to get up to the top. The view there was absolutely stunning! As it was getting into winter, you can see the snow on top of the mountains from far away.

This is Lake Peyo in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It always makes for a great shot, the greenish blue of the water is a beautiful contrast to the surrounding mountains and landscape. I was lucky to come here twice, i highly recommend visiting this amazing part of our planet.

In this photo you have a view over the valley of the city of Caracas.
The main geographical feature of the city is the big mountains in the north. They are called El Ávila, they are more than 2000 meters above sea level.

For sheer energy and fun, in my mind nothing beats Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in South America, and maybe the entire world. The sun, the beaches, the people, the food. It really is an incredible getaway. And a simple drive up Sugarloaf Mountain gives you an amazing view like this:

Cartagena, Columbia is definitely one of the yellowest cities I have ever seen. Almost every corner seems a place for a picture, so bright and vivid the streets are.
When I was there the weather was wonderful and I had great times to walk arount the city.

Salvador do Bahia, Brazil, this is the main square, nearby is the artisans market where you could buy handmade inexpensive local handcraft. Salvador do Bahia is one of the most colourful cities in Brazil. I took this picture in year 2004 with a canon powershot G5.

After Fishing
These fisherman just came back from fishing with that small boat called Jangada. Sometimes they stay out in the sea up to 3 days in that small boat. Despite the hard conditions, they came with an amazing catch of Camarupim (they get up to size of a human). Paracuru, Ceara, Brazil.

This photo is of a beautiful sunset in Puerto Arango, on the San Pedro River, located in Colombia. To this place arrive boats with raw materials from the Amazon, mainly wood. I hope the side effects are mitigated in some way.
