Travelling to Italy - 11 Tips and Tricks

I have been on a two weeks long roadtrip starting from Milan, to Pisa, Florence, Naples, Rome, Venice, Verona and back to Milan. Here are my tips and tricks for having the best travelling experience and making the most out of it!
We paid 40 euros to fly from Cologne in Germany to Milan and the flight took us 45 minutes. If you are not so close, maybe the cheaper option would be to check out all possibilties, like a train, bus anf flightconnection. We were in Cologne and our other friend drove from Switzerland to Milan with her car. We travelled Italy by car which is maybe not the cheapest way to travel, but definetly the more comfortable one and you are basically free from any time pressure! You get to see a lot of Italy that isn't accessable easy by using ony public transports.
One day we decided to spent one entire day at the beach close to Naples. We wanted the perfect spot with more privacy and less tourists. It took us almost one hour to find it but it was so worth it. And we did some stops on our way along the coast to see the amazing views.
2. Eat local foods and cook yourself
Eating in Italy is a paradise and I can so recommend you try the pizzas, obviously, the ice-cream, pasta, seafood, everything really. It's expensive, especially in the touristic parts of the Cities, but once in a awhile spent that money and have that experience!
I bought a Pizza at the very first pizzeria in Naples, not looking very photgenic but I swear it tasted like heaven! One of the best pizzas I ever had! Naples is very cheap too by the way and my favourite visit for Italy. It's by the sea and has amazing beaches, and cheap food, the locals are amazingly nice!
Sometimes we would cook at home too.
3. Where to live on a budget
We stayed about three day days in each city. I organized our stays with Airbnb. Sometimes we would get a room or even a whole apartment to ourselves. When we lives alone, we used it to cook ourselves. Staying with Airbnb is a good way not only to meet new people but soft on your wallet! Thanks to meeting the right people we even had amazing experiences that we wouldn't have visiting in a hotel. You learn so much more about the locals.
One guy that hosted us got us a Kayak Tour and invited us two nights to a private beach to celebrate with a swimming restaurant bringin fresh seafood to the beach and lots of pizza. I guess we were at the right place at the right time.
4. Get a good sleep
Travelling a country, always means walking, looking, learning new things. But don't only travel! Make it a holiday you can rest in too! No matter if afterwards you go back to your work or family or if you keep travelling.
5. Speak to Locals/ Connect with other Travellers
Locals can show you the best of a city, tell you interesting things and become your friends even. We also met other Traveller who we met on the street or who booked in the same airbnb house.

6. Try to avoid the Police :D
We all make mistakes, especially travelling in foreign countries. We had to pay 100 Euros for parking in front the Pantegon to pick up someone! STUPID, i know ;-)
7. Travel by Metro
In the summer, not so nice, but cheap and an experience.

8. Get to know the city by night
We only visited a bar once in Rome. It makes you feel like a local student who went out for drinks with our friends to forget all about your studies :P
9. Visit the Monuments and Museums
Culture is part of any travel, and as though I am not like my two girls who is someone who walks eagerly through museums, Italy is a very artistic and cutural place where it makes sense to visit one or the other Museum and Monument!
Take time to really enjoy the views and just sit down once in a while
11. Lastly, simply enjoy fully whilst still taking amazing pictures to remind you of the experience
