Eyes wide open
After Valle del Elqui, we spent some time wondering in La Serena and Coquimbo, two cities so close to each other that seems like is just one big city. That picture was taken in ”La Cruz del Tercer Milenio” which literally means ”The cross of the third millennium”. It is a 38 meters tall concrete tower and has a religious significance. I am not religious at all, and to be honest, the building was not exactly a great architectonic achievement, BUT the view it offers is indisputably good, 360º around, the ocean, the pampa, the harbour, the two cities, and so on.
We also went to “La Recova”, a market that offers handcrafted goods, quartz and other beautiful stones, local packed food and also there are restaurants to eat at the place. If you ask me? I would say that is a lovely place to visit, though, it is not the cheapest, and it is pretty much touristic nowadays. We visited "Caleta San Pedro" an open square full of little kitchens offering fresh seafood and others homemade dishes, dark side? No many vegetarian options, and what was actually vegetarian was not exactly healthy. We walked around the beach and the promenade after sunset and finished the day with a delicious natural fruit juice we bought at fair.
We drank so many juices of so many different fruits those days! I am so grateful for that. Have you guys tried Copao? It is the fruit of a wild cactus: “Eulychinia acid” (found the scientific name on the internet) it is delicious and also kind of sour as its name "acid" refers. We also eat papayas and drank lots of papaya's juice. Papayas here are different from those big and orange ones, in fact, they are kind of small, yet very yummy. I believe we took some pics with the GoPro, after checking the material I will try to upload a pic of it.
Cheers,
