Short Getaway #1: Sibu, Sarawak
Hola. Short weekend getaway! 😍 It’s my very first time to Sibu, Sarawak. The main reason to go there was to attend my friend’s wedding.
Sibu is approximately 740km+- away from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. By road might need at least 14 hours while by flight will take one hour and thirty five minutes only. To save some time, we decided to take flight. We have booked direct flight tickets to Sibu with MASwings, which fly with smaller aircraft.
My very first MASwing ride. I’m so nervous.
Cute staircases isn’t it.
I was so nervous that day. Maybe because of I got no confidence in small aircraft plus it’s a rainy and windy day. Luckily, everything went smooth and I landed Sibu Airport without any delay.
Day 1
Yeay landed!
We took a Grab car to the city. It’s around half and hour from the airport to the city. A little bit far then what I expected. 😁 After check in, we went for supper nearby our hotel.
This fried noodle taste really good! 👍🏻😋
Day 2
The next day, we woke up early to try their local food before go to the church. First try of the famous ‘Ding Bian Hu’. It’s a thin layer of rice starch solution with pork, black fungus and fish balls.
Ding Bian Hu- one of the most famous food in Sibu!
Take a little walk after breakfast. Lots of the shops were close due to public holidays as Sarawakians are celebrating Gawai Festival on 1st and 2nd June every year.
Empty Street View- They are having holidays. I guess I have to come again another day. 😆
Street Art Number 1. ☺️
Street Art Number 2. 😊
Explore the town is easy with Grab Car. There are plenty of drivers just around you, book it and here they are within a few minutes. After getting myself ready, I went to the church.
The prettiest bride. 😍
May the love you share today
grow stronger as you grow old together. Congratulations!
We spent about two hours at the church then we went to the newly-weds house for lunch. We then went back to the town and walk around. As the wedding dinner location is just next to our hotel, after we got ready, we walk there. I like it when every places is within walking distance. 😉
There’s a theme for the wedding dinner- Red Shanghai Theme. So most of the guests were wearing red or black. It’s so lovely.
Dine area. Loved it!
The photo shooting spot! Red! 😍😍
We had a wonderful night with a lots of chitchat and laughters with the old friends. Attend wedding dinner might be the best chance for gathering. So nostalgic.
Day 3
Woke up early in the morning for food hunts again. ☺️
The famous Kompia! 🤤🤤
Chicken soup Mee Suah. 😋
The last but not least famous food here- Kampua! Guess how much it is? RM3! So cheap yet delicious. 😯
I’m so satisfied with their food, it’s really taste so good. That’s the end of my Sibu trip. Two days won’t be enough to explore the town and I’ll definitely come back again for a longer stay.
Bon Voyage.
Till we meet again Sibu.
Home sweet home! KK welcomes you :)
