Alba Iulia Catholic Cathedral of St. Michael

The construction of the cathedral began in the 11th century, probably by the year 1004, with the founding of the Bishopric of Transylvania by King Stephen I of Hungary. In its immediate vicinity, the foundation of a church in the middle of the tenth century was discovered.
