Ok my mother is also a newbie so she has asked me (her son) to reply
Ok so I use photobucket to up load my pictures once you have uploaded them left click and it will take you to a page with 4 options at the side. press on the direct link(it will show that it has been copied) then paste that in the post and it will show up. you can still edit your post right now to add pictures.hope this helps if u need to see how go to http://steemd.com/dragonslayer109 and check out the layout of one of my posts
