Mabalingwe Nature Reserve
This undisturbed 12 500 ha bushveld Nature Reserve nestled in the majestic Waterberg mountains, boasts with the “Big 5”, a large variety of birds and wildlife, luxurious accommodation and plenty of activities to entertain the entire family.
They offer game viewing during the day and night in open vehicles, by horseback or you can use your private vehicle to view the animals at your own time and leisure. You can experience Lions being fed, or watch the rhinos drinking at the waterhole during sunrise or sunset. Some of the animals at Mabalingwe includes: Elephants, Lions, white and black Rhinos, Giraffe, Blue wildebeest, Kudu, Impala, Eland, Duiker, Waterbuck, Aardwolf, Cape Fox, Zebras, Hippopotamus, Nyala, Brown Hyena, Chacma Baboon, Black-Backed jackal, Lesser Bushbaby, Warthog, Porcupine, Vervet Monkey, Caracal and the ect.
We have over 900 bird species in South Africa, these are some of the species you will be able to view: Vultures, Ostrich, Herons, Kites, Eagles, Louries, Kingfisher, Owls, Woodpeckers, Hoopoes and Hornbills, Nightjars, Coucals, Honeyguides etc.
During your stay you might encounter a snake or two. The most common found on the Reserve is the Mozambique spitting cobra, there are also others like the black mamba, puff adder, spotted bush snake, grass snakes, brown house snake, mole snake and a night adder to name a few. There are also some lizards.
Mabalingwe offers self-catering chalets, tented camps, a caravan park, 4x4 camps, a restaurant and a shop.
You can take part in activities like mini golf, Squash, Chess, Tennis, Archery, Volleyball and Horseback riding.
There are 6 different areas with either heated and/or cold pools, also a sauna room at the main complex.
On your arrival you will be greeted by a family of monkeys on your veranda or some warthogs basking in the sun at your kitchen door.
There is a tame impala that loves to beg for some treats as well as some grey Louries, guinea fowl and squirrels coming to join you for breakfast.
As you walk to the pools you will see some Duikers and Waterbuck grazing between the Chalets.
This will be an African Bushveld experience you will never forget!

I loved visiting South Africa 20 years ago, this place looks like it would be a great place to stay.
