Today, I am going to talk about The Golden Chariot. A luxury train that connects all the important tourist spots in South India.

The Golden Chariot offers 2 itineraries. The itineraries are named Pride of the South and Splendor of the South.

1. Pride of the South:

Pride of the South tour is a 7 nights and 8 days tour which covers all the major tourist spots in Karnataka. The destinations covered in Pride of the South are Bengaluru, Mysore, Hassan, Belur and Halebidu, Hospet and Hampi, Aihole, Pattadakal and Badami, and Goa.

2. Splendor of the South

Splendor of the South tour covers tourist places in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Pondicherry. Destinations covered during this itinerary include Bangalore, Chennai, Pondicherry, Thanjavur, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Alleppey and Kochi.

The train is named after the stone chariot in the Vitthala Temple at Hampi, Karnataka. The train is colored in purple and gold and sports a mystical logo on all the 19 coaches.

The train first started in 2008 and has been awarded as "Asia's Leading Luxury Train" at World Travel Awards, 2013.

The train offers accommodations in 11/19 coaches and the coaches are named after dynasties that ruled the southern part of India during the ages. The names of the coaches are as follows: Kadamba, Hoysala, Rashtrakuta, Ganga, Chalukya, Bahamani, Adil Shahi, Sangama, Satavahana, Yadukula, and Vijayanagar. Each cabin in the coach is equipped with internet facilities and live TV.

The remaining 8 coaches house 2 restaurants, a lounge bar, conference rooms, spa, and a gymnasium.
