Portfolio Grab: by Cotton Lazarus [001]

in #travel6 years ago

It has been a while since I've posted. I had a fantastic 2017 on Steemit, sharing my stories and photography. Something I wish to continue throughout the remainder of 2018. I have been shooting lots of film over the past few months exploring how the seasons change, and once I get some rolls developed i'll be discussing the results here.

In the meantime, enjoy these five images from my portfolio:

River Ganges.jpg
In Hindu tradition, Triveni Sangam is the "confluence" of three rivers. Sangama is the Sanskrit word for confluence. The point of confluence is a sacred place for Hindus. A bath here is said to flush away all of one's sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth. Here we see the fishing boats heading out at sunrise to tend the nets.

Indian Monkey on a mountain.jpg
Lohagad (iron fort) is one of the many hill forts of Maharashtra state in India. Situated close to the hill station Lonavala and 52 km (32 mi) northwest of Pune, Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m (3,389 ft) above sea level. The fort is connected to the neighboring Visapur fort by a small range. The fort was under the Maratha empire for the majority of time, with a short period of 5 years under the Mughal empire. Now the Fort sit's in ruins upon a hilltop occupied by Monkeys.

Although all plants need at least some water to survive, giving them too much or too little can cause them to die. For example, overwatering can lead to a plant's roots not receiving enough air, causing the plant to suffocate.

jump2.jpg
Jumping spiders are a group of spiders that constitute the family Salticidae. This family contains over 600 described genera and more than 5800 described species,[1] making it the largest family of spiders with about 13% of all species.[2] Jumping spiders have some of the best vision among arthropods and use it in courtship, hunting, and navigation. Although they normally move unobtrusively and fairly slowly, most species are capable of very agile jumps, notably when hunting, but sometimes in response to sudden threats or crossing long gaps. Both their book lungs and tracheal system are well-developed, and they use both systems (bimodal breathing). Jumping spiders are generally recognized by their eye pattern. All jumping spiders have four pairs of eyes, with the anterior median pair being particularly large. This specimen was photographed in Pune, India.

Stray Cat 1.jpg
Last, a feral cat in Pune. This little beauty lived in the grounds of our Apartment stalking mice and snakes.

Thanks for reading,
Cotton.
