Crossing the Henri PIttier National Park from the South end to the North 51 km

The trail Turmero-Chuao, is one of the routes preferred by many hikers in the country, forming an important part of any itinerary in the life of a hiker. This road is one of the main means of communication with the coastal town of Chuao; Since the other access road is through the coast by peñeros. This road passes through a large part of the jungle of the National Park Henri Pittier (one of the most beautiful in the country), a road dating from the colonial period, being used by merchants of cacao and other foods of the time. Chuao known worldwide for its natural, cultural and historical wealth; Being the most significant of this town the production of the "Best Cacao of the World" so much is today that is the country's historical heritage. Currently Chuao is studied by UNESCO as a good interest for its great natural and cultural wealth.

The trail begins at 450 meters above sea level. There is a Park Guard Station where you check in at 6:00 am. We leave for a very wide road and in which there are signs of how many kilometers you travel until you reach the Guard Post Simón Machado Parks at 1634 masl. Are 11 km to this point, it took 2:30 hours to arrive very fast we made this climb.
There is a kind of shelter to spend the night, we ate and at 9:00 am we continue our journey.
After crossing several ravines and clear ridges of large trees, covered with ferns, called Los Helechales, we arrive at the Middle River at 2:45 pm and where we decided to camp since we were dead of sleep, hunger and we were going to do Very hard to arrive at night, this day we covered an approximate of 31 km

   We leave the Middle River at 7:30 a.m. the descending road after a vertical stretch leads to La Cueva del Tigre, where the vegetation changes, the end of the long jungle ends and the xerophilous vegetation begins

Until arriving at El Paraíso, where there are two houses of some peasant families.

From here is a steep and clear descent called "La Bajada de Paraíso" until we reach the fresh waters of the Tamaira River here and we arrive at the town of Chuao.

From here you cross the catwalk until you reach the Central Plaza, which in addition to the church has an immense patio where you can see the cocoa seeds drying in the sun.

We arrived at the plaza at 12:30 pm, total of 13:15 hours, slightly less than the 14 stipulated.

  Here we take one of the few vehicles that there is in the town until the Bay of Chuao, and at the pier we take a boat of fishermen and in 30 minutes we arrive to Choroní.
