Conquering the Summit, Above 16100 feet. Wonderful Experience

in #travel8 years ago

I have had many experiences in mid-mountain, but few times I've had the opportunity to go hiking in the mountains. over 16000 feet.

SUMMIT ON THE 2ND HIGHEST PEAK VENEZUELA

Day 1

We arrived at the village of Tabay where we take a rural transport that took us to the Mucuy

From the Mucuy (2300m), where the entrance to the Sierra Nevada National Park Lagoon Coromoto are 9 km

The trail is very well marked is the cloud forest

and thick vegetation, huge ferns, tall trees and abundant life, woodsy trail.

Along the way are several springs and small waterfalls.

We met many people down who failed to summit due to bad weather all the increase was in the rain, crossing swollen rivers, crossing the Mina waterfall, cascading waterfall Bear and the Goblin

At the end we left the jungle to 3300 m, where there is a stone fireplace, remains of an ancient refuge in a small plaza with a large rock beside the Laguna Coromoto, here we camp for the night.

We left at 7:40 am arrival 1:05 and 5:45 hours total

Day 2

From the Laguna Coromoto to Laguna Verde (3200 m to 4000 m) departure at 8:30 am arrive at 1:00 pm Total 4:30 am,

This day the climb is steeper and more rocky than the previous day even though it is shorter is 6 km is much stronger.

The scenario is much more open as it continues to rise.

In a couple of places you have to climb up rocky sections, using hands to grip and balance.

through the Quemado Bridge a very narrow bridge with a ravine next but has a flexible shaft to the mountains for safety, the cliff, climb up the moraines that are large and loose rocks the glacial period, the Paso de las Cabras or Step Diablo a narrow passage with a sloping ravine left leads to the Laguna Verde (3900 m) spectacular lagoon where you see and Humboldt Peak and glacier, that's where we camped.

Day 3

We leave from the Laguna Verde to Pico Humboldt (4000 m to 4950 m) departure at 4:50 am arrive the Total 9:15 2:30 4:25 hours more approximately down to Laguna Verde

super-steep ascent, at first a pike muddied the right side of the waterfall, then Arenal is a super steep climb, then through loose rock cliffs to reach the Glacier Crown most encouraging of this journey.

Pretty tough this rise and more by lack of oxygen to reach the most rewarding Glacier the Crown, after climbing the glacier or rock climbs ladder to reach the summit.

After reaching the summit we descend to Laguna Verde where we camped for the next day began the descent.

 Day 4

Descent from Laguna Verde - Mucuy -Merida 7 hours down very slow due to wet ground very slippery rain

The mountain has taught me that nothing is a gift and every conquest is achieved with effort and sacrifice, but all worth it when it involves so great satisfaction of reaching the summit.
