In the previous post, I’ve introduced the alternative section of the Great Wall – Mu Tian Yu. Today, I am going to share with you some places in Beijing if you are not a fan of the crowds.

Beihai Park - It would be a charming place in summer!

Beihai Park is a public park and former imperial garden located in the northwestern part of Beijing.

I went to Beihai Park on New Year Holiday this year. It's a charming place to take walk; however, it was cold, very cold in winter, as the huge lake at Beihai park keeps the air cooler than in other parts of Beijing...

It would be a great choice to come here to cool down and relax in summer time, as it's a peaceful green space with plenty of shades and trees. Remember to take a lovey duck shaped pedalo boat out on the lake, without the crowds in the Forbidden City.

The White Pagoda on the island in Beihai Lake is the signature of Beihai Park. You would also find elaborate pavilions and the delicate garden structures that are inspired by the Southeastern parts of China, such as Suzhou, Hangzhou, etc.

Jingshan Park - Bird eye view of the Forbidden city!

When I took a walk in Beihai Park, I crossed the road and went to Jingshan Park. Yes, these two parks are next to each other. And I was shocked by the entrance ticket price - 2 RMB!!! (tourist off-season), compared to other tourist attractions.

Jingshan Park is much smaller than Beihai Park. However, it's worth to visit - a big greenery garden. Once you climb up the 300 stairs to the top of Jinshan park, you will enjoy the astonishing view - the whole of forbidden city will be in your eyes.

If you are into historical places that reflects style and architectural skill, these two places would be perfect choices.
