My Travel Blog 2 - Dos Palmas Palawan

in #travel7 years ago

Dear Steemit Friends,

Taking a trip down memory lane, I wanted to share with you some moments from a past trip to Dos Palmas Palawan in the Philippines. Of all the destinations in the Philippines, Palawan is a must-see for those of you who want to relax and get away from the business of the city life and the party scene of other tropical destinations like Boracay. Dos Palmas is one of the more affordable destinations in Palawan with El Nido and Amanpulo (which I will share in a future post) being the more extreme and expensive of all destinations.

Although Dos Palmas is more affordable, that does not mean it is cheap. It is still a destination which shares the tranquility, peacefulness, and quiet relaxation vibe that Palawan is known for. The beaches are less crowded, less commercialized, and less touched and you get a sense of serene and seclusion when you visit.

When you visit, the expectation you should have is to completely disconnect. Cell phone coverage is weak to almost non-existent when you are on any of the numbers of islands and the surroundings will force you to completely seperate yourself from the world.

Although you aren't required to meditate, it is definitely something you can do. With the relaxing atmosphere and the almost lazy feeling of not having a care in the world, there is nothing to do but to enjoy the silence and calmness of your surroundings.

Unlike Boracay, Puerto Galera, and the number of other destinations in the Philippines, Dos Palmas has only a limited number of activities. Most tourists and visitors simply want to sleep, swim, and enjoy the seclusion from the rest of the world. It is a place where you can bring your loved one to rekindle and re-ignite your love for one another and enjoy each others company.

There are a number of resort-style cabanas you can stay in, but the best and most recommended bungalows are the ones that sit elevated above the water on stilts. Each cabana is connected by an interconnecting arrangement of bridges and walkways that blend naturally into the environment.

The rooms themselves are modernly built with natural materials from the surrounding area and are arranged in a way to provide the best comfort for your stay. Each bungalow has a queen sized bed and is cooled using the natural breeze from the ocean. You have the option as well to get rooms with an AC unit.

As mentioned previously. Visitors shouldn't expect that there are many activities since the goal of the resort is to encourage relaxation. You will find many fixtures and amenities which encourage you to kick off your sandals and just enjoy your surroundings. The beach is clean, the water is clear, and the staff is there to make sure everything you need is taken care of.

The food is a buffet of naturally found and locally prepared delights. Most of the ingredients are organic and grown locally to ensure that you are experiencing true island living. The seafood is caught and prepared fresh and available in a good amount of variety.

Like most places in the Philippines, the water is crystal clear and allows you to see the aquatic life just under the surface almost as if you could reach down and grab hold of it.

You can take a walk along the property and even enjoy a relaxing outdoor massage which was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities we did. If an outdoor massage is not your style, there are a number of spas you can visit where you can arrange for a private couple massage and pampering.

Because of the abundant aquatic life, snorkeling and diving is a recommended activity and as usual is available for anyone who is interested. There is a number of sea life here that you will not see anywhere else. If you don't have a certification to dive, you can do an intro dive which is led by one of the experienced dive masters which they have onsite.

Of all the places I have visited. Dos Palmas is one of the places where I have felt the most relaxed and was able to relax. You may think having nothing to do can be boring or that you may not enjoy it, but just being there and enjoying your surroundings and the company of a loved one is one of the best vacations you will find you need.

How many times can you say that you went on a vacation and just did nothing? No busy schedules of site seeing, no pre-made plans which you need to follow a schedule and instead you are just there. Living each day and every hour as they come and just enjoying yourself. I recommend everyone try it once. You won't regret it and you will get a whole lot more out of it.

Does this seem like a place you want to visit?
