RE: Travel Pro Hotel Cooking #3: Rib-Eye Steak! In a Hotel in Guayaquil Ecuador! (21 food photos)

Dan, you make this look so easy! But what you did here is amazing and you got excellent results. Look how nicely that steak is cooked! It just looks great! I like all the tips you give too, like letting the meat rest... And I like how you cook the vegetables in the pot after the steaks. You were able to deglaze the pan and flavor the vegetables with it.

I was wondering did the room have the burner and pot? or did you have to buy them? If you had to buy them do you leave them behind with you leave or pack them into the backpack? I know! I am curious about the least important details. haha

Ha ha! Thank you so much Steve. Not bad for an untrained amateur "personal Chef" of 6 six months! lol Coming from you the complimentary words mean a lot.

I bought the burner and pot in Quito when I first got to Ecuador now about two month's ago! Yikes, how time flies. Depending on how fast and where I'm traveling to I travel with this set up. I prefer not to cook in my room, and not carry this stuff around with me.

But I find the quality of food and food options quite lousy in Ecuador in general....especially compared to what I can do myself like in this post. So during my time here in South America I probably will travel with this stuff. But I'm compelled to leave it behind. I never cook in my room in Asia. I find Asian especially Thai food a real pleasure and healthy. Where here, not so much, and food poisoning a much greater concern too.

I'll be leaving Ecuador to Peru in less than a week now. I'll bring my pot and burner. But I don't think I'll be using it as often as I do in Ecuador. I believe Peruvian, Chilean, and especially Argentinian food will be much better than my options here in Ecuador. But we will see. Another aspect of the decision to bring it with me.....is I enjoy cooking! But I'm certainly not thrilled to lug it around.

Great questions as always Steve. Now how do I copy and paste this into steemit post! lol
