Inparques, the state agency in charge of the care and management of the Venezuelan National Park, has designated several camping sites.

Los Roques has a structure of atoll, not very frequent in the Caribbean but common to the Pacific Ocean, with two external barriers formed by coralline communities, which protect the archipelago from the strong currents; Also, an internal lagoon of shallow waters and sandy bottoms. This park is constituted by 40.61 km² of surface, 1500 km² of coral reefs, 42 cays of coral origin that surround a central lagoon of 400 km² and shallow waters, 2 reef barriers (east of 24 km and south of 32 km) and 300 sand banks, the islands and cays range from a considerable surface, as large cay of 15.1 km² of extension , even the Gran Roque, which despite being the most populous, has only 1.7 km² (170 hectares) of extension.
