Adventures from South of the Border #3

in #travel7 years ago

We had a great time exploring El Cuyo and Isla Holbox. There really is so much to see and do and there wasn't enough time on this trip to experience all of it. We are definitely coming back up this way next month when the whale sharks are plentiful and plan to dive with them. Here are a few pictures that we took along the way!

Our home in El Cuyo

The little town of El Cuyo offers very little to do, but that is part of the charm. Just the sound of the waves. No supermarket or gas stations. One restaurant (that was usually closed) and some really wonderful locals made this experience the opposite of life on the beach in Cancun. The sand and shore were exceptionally clean, although there was something ( and a lot of it!) That we couldn't identify.

Our hotel on Isla Holbox

Holbox definitely had more to see and do but is one of the most laid-back places that we have ever been to. Almost no cars on the island and no paved roads, which was a bit messy after the rain!20170612_131505_001.jpg
