Travel Guide - Faculty of Humanities in Zagreb, Croatia

in #travel7 years ago

Every now and then I remember how nice it was to study. Glorious time of carefree life.

My alma mater - Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb

Statue in front of the building and the outside view of the caffe (Student Club)

Most of my days would be spent waiting the next lesson which would be scattered haphazardly throughout the day because of sheer number of possible major subject combinations.

I decided on English and Philosophy. The guy enrolling me asked me if I am really sure that is the combination I want :) I was never quite sure what he meant by it, but I would not change anything.

You are in a bubble there. Professors are like parents and everyone means well. Nobody acts like a moron. You think life is pretty decent and nothing can go terribly wrong. Girls are cute, too. Lots of them wandering around.

My favourite spot was The Student Club (KSFF). A small glass enclosed space, sometimes called ‘greenhouse’. After they installed air conditioning it was fine though. Coffee is terrible (cheap instant), mugs are unsanitary and roaches poke their heads sometimes. We did not mind. It was 3 kuna (0.44$).

I like the decor. Always making fun of ideologies. Jesus stares at you from the wall, Marx, Engels and Lenin opposite :)

Students here are quite known for their rebelliousness and they always have patched up sings flying from some faculty’s window. This one says ‘FACULTY IS OURS’.

This is what’s going on in April.

In 2009 they built the new library which was a disastrous esthetic adjunct to the socialistic building of the faculty. Still, it is quite magnificent inside and cozy. I like to sit inside sometimes. It puts a smile to my face.

I see they recently added smart benches in front. Runs on solar power and you can plug in your laptop in USB port. Amazing! Maybe you could mine crypto on solar power there. Hmm….

It was a lovely day. Only had a coffee with dear friend in one of the bars outside. Maybe he joins us soon!

Where did you spend most of your schooling?

Sort:

I like the solar panels in the bench and yes you could technically mine crypto on your laptop with the cpu. It probably wouldn't net you very much but at least you could say your doing your part for the environment! :)

Just a fun thought. It is only worthwhile to mine with desktop GPU these days right?

For the most part, unless you get in early on a coin launch that is cpu only. I think steemit started out that way

Makes me reminisce my days in school. Great post and thanks for the mention!

Great, thanks :) I hoped it would bring back pleasant memories!
