Exploring the Off-Limits Areas of the Largest Cruise Ship In the World - Part 2

in #travel8 years ago

This is the part two of a post where I show you the inside of the tour I took on the Oasis of The Seas. See the Aqua Theater, Galley, Pantry and Engine Room in Part 1.

The Laundry Room

Don't forget that a cruise ship is a fancy hotel in the sea. Here is where they wash, dry and press the all the sheets, towels, and clothes of over eight thousand passengers and crew.

The Bridge

The Captain's personal office. A very fancy room where he commands the ship.

The view from the Bridge

Our route in the Caribbean

Three engines, each independently controlled

Comfy

Right next to the bridge, they monitor alarms and status of the whole ship

The Captain's Chair. Yes you can sit on it.

The Heli Bar

We weren't allowed to take pictures of the crew's personal spaces: restaurants, rest areas, etc. The only place we could register was the Heli Bar, their exclusive bar where they party and hang out on their off time, just below the ship's helipad.

The light was really low so apologies for the blurriness

And that's it. I really recommend taking this cruise, and I can post a review later if there's interest. I also recommend the All Access Tour, that, while pricey, shows you a huge world inside the ship that most people have no idea that it's there.

don't forget to follow @burnin for more things like this (and unlike this as well)

Sort:

At 45 full size photographs one page it was getting a little too heavy, so splitting in half seemed like it'd be better.

I think the post would be a more successful if it was kept in 1 part.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep in mind for the next ones. :)

And please try NOT to post blurry photos with an excuse... As a photographer, I appreciate nice images...Thanks

Never been on Allure, Oasis twice, these there the 2nd and 3rd largest ships afloat, most supertankers have been retired due to environmental oil spills , so only one ship ( supertanker) is larger than these 225,000 ton Cruise ships. These Boats make Air Carriers look small , actually they are called Ships ; but really their just Boats on 9 different types of steroids ! ! !

With the advent of the 2007-2009 Economic Recession and the ongoing The Great Depression from 2009 till forever these are the largest cruise ships that will ever be built ; the reason is a fifty year lifespan and the loss of cruising revenue, newer ships will be smaller.

Seven hundred million to build , 700 million to kit out , 2,300 crew and 5,900 passengers for seven days. These ships must be seen , ice skating , pools , drinking bars , flying foxes and rock climbing as well as surfing ! ! !

You simply will not find a more memorable experience ; recommended by a GOLD class member : )

enjoy ; )

OK, if your looking at the pictures from the link, remember to pinch yourself and remind yourself this is a BOAT ; aka Ship . . .

Yep! I've been once on the Allure and once on the Oasis. Maybe the Harmony in the future? I also wanna try the new Quantum class. :)
