Perth Day Trip - Yanchep Crystal Cave
Only 45min North of Perth by car, Crystal Cave is an ideal location to head to when you experience that spontaneous urge to get out and go somewhere. Traffic is easy going but you won't be alone on the road, there are generally others with a similar ideas heading to or returning from many of the other nearby attractions that Western Australia has to offer. When you get to the main entrance gate of Yanchep National Park, the entrance fee will at the time of writing this, cost you $13 AUD per car for entry to the Park.
Once you've parked in the main parking lot, you'll need to make your way to the Visitors Center to purchase your Cave tour tickets. At the time of writing this, I paid $15 AUD per adult, $7.50 AUD per child and children under 5 are free.
Cave tours run at certain times slots. 15 min before your booked slot, you'll need to take a short drive over to the Cave where you'll meet your guide. You'll enter the Cave down a short but steep flight of stairs.
As your descent nears the bottom you immediately feel the change in temperature. It's a comfortable 16/17 degrees Celsius down there, a pleasant change from the often sweltering heat upon the surface. The first chamber has ample room for a large group stand comfortably in and as your eyes start adjusting to the dark your surroundings start to reveal themselves.....
