Meet Up in La Playa Caletilla

Meet up at Maria Bontia Restaurante
I planned a trip for my friends who lived in Acapulco to have a fun day hiking and beaching. We met up at Maria Bonita Restaurante in Playa Caletilla. I had some pretty amazing tacos while everyone else had massages and drank piña coladas. The massage people were very persistent on the verge of aggressive. I constantly told one lady to stop touching me and gave her $20 pesos to go away. Everyone else enjoyed them. My friends who came with me are @homestead-guru, @sovereignbtc, @cryptoliberi and Lucky Bennett. The beach is more of a tourist spot for Mexicans which was a nice change of pace.

Boat Ride to La Roqueta

All you have to do is go to this beach and people will sell you tickets to get to La Roqueta. All of the ferries leave from this beach. The ferry costs $85 pesos per person. The boats have a glass bottom so during the trip you will see wildlife and the submerged Virgin of Guadalupe.

Hike Around the Island

The main beach was very crowded like Playa Caletilla so we ended up not staying there for too long. John, @sovereignbtc, did stay with his children. We found the hiking trail up above the bathrooms on the right for the short way to lovers beach. We took the long way around by going to the left and asking for directions as we went.
Graffiti and Trail

The path was not marked at all but there were great scenic overlooks along the trail. Scenic OverlookAnother scenic overlook

The trail did not have many people on it so it was nice and quiet. One of the few places in Acapulco that is quiet and where you can enjoy nature. I ended up not taking too many photos of the trail and main beach because I was so eager and enjoyed the hike so much. The trail was around 4 - 5km and we ended up taking a short cut to lover's beach due to Lucky being tired.

Lover's beach was pretty fantastic. Here's a glimpse of the beach.

Beach facing the Pacific Ocean

The beach faced the Pacific Ocean and had a ton of yachts near it. No one from the yachts came onto the beach because the current was so rough going over the rocks. Plus there were probably sea urchins on the rocks which would have been killer to get skewered by them.

The rocks as shown in the two photos above were a cool place to explore. There were many black crabs and sea urchins along the coast. After spending about an hour or two on the beach we headed back to the main beach to ferry to the mainland. The lines took us about 30 minutes to get on the boat. Overall the trip to La Roqueta was enjoyable, beautiful and a wonderful experience. I recommend it to anyone who visits Acapulco, Mexico.
