Camping in the Australian bush.

Morning Steemers,
Recently I got the news that my friend was having a baby so I organised a bit of a camping trip before the poor bugger gets too busy......
Luckily he owns over 100 acres in the middle of nowhere so finding a location was the easy bit.

Eucalyptus and Pine Trees as far as the eye can see, this photo does no justice to how dangerously dry it was.

Being a 450km and 5+ hour drive I decided to take the Friday and Monday off work to make the most of it, four days off in a row was a much needed break!
I left after the breakfast hour and arrived early enough to explore the property before darkness engulfed us.

My halfway smoko pit stop was at the top of a gorge and to be honest I could have just camped here the whole time.....beautiful!!

Arriving at the property this big stretched out Eucalypt caught my eye, you can see the dryness a little better in this picture.
BUSHFIRES TORE THROUGH THE SURROUNDING AREAS

Luckily (for us) the wind happened to be blowing the fires in the opposite direction of our camp, if that wasn't the case the odds are it would probably be game over for this steemer....
We drank, ate, slept and survived....some folk in surrounding areas didn't.😔

The next days involved fire, camp food and beer......and at night time a hell of a lot of stars!!!

The area known as the "Granite Belt" has some amazing boulders on it, with nearly all of them covered in psychedelic coloured Lichens and Moulds.

Unfortunately this guy couldn't handle the brutal dry winter they had just witnessed.

Somehow one of the Native Lemon Grasses I brought out last vist was hanging in there!

Overall a good time was had and the drive home was made painless with preplanned pod casts and playing beat the time game.
Mission completed in well under 5 hours!
