Crazies Overboard! About our trip to LA!

in #travel6 years ago

We just got back from our awesome trip to LA and want to tell you all about it!

WE MADE IT!

If you didn't already know, we were blessed to be part of the soundtrack for the new MGM film "Overboard", a remake of the 1987 rom-com originally starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. The new version features Mexican comedian Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris (Scary Movie).

Music Supervisor and Producer for the Film's Soundtrack Andres Levin (Natalie Merchant, Paulina Rubio, Marc Anthony & others) invited us to record vocals on the song "Lejos De Ti", an electro pop tune (all in Spanish) which aside from playing in the movies pivotal scene was also included in full form on the soundtrack (Sony Masterworks) available to Download/Stream everywhere!

BREAK OUT THE HANKY PANKYS!

And if that wasn't already amazing news, Andres also invited us to LA to not only attend the premiere of the film (red carpet appearance included) but also to join his band Los Hanky Pankys and Cali rapper Kemo The Blaxican in their performance during the official afterparty at the W hotel in Westwood. This turned out to be a real fiesta, as Overboard cast members Hannah Nordberg, Josh Segarra and Anna Faris jumped on the stage and sang with us. Unreal! We also got to sing our original tune "Hold On" for the crowd of Hollywood insiders and tastemakers present at the event. It all made for a very memorable trip which will be very hard to top. Oh, we also got to see our dear friend, director Solvan 'Slick' Naim and his wife Reema which was another sweet bonus.

WHEN IN HOLLYWOOD...

We had been to Los Angeles several times in the past but this trip really topped them all. Not only because of how fun it was but because of the beautiful people we got to meet. One person in particular, Music Agent Joel Roman (ICM) who made us feel at home in his cozy house along with his wonderful family (and his chihuahua Patron). We rehearsed in their garage which doubles as his son Oliver's studio space (check out his band Jaw Talk's EP, it rocks!). Oliver played lead guitar in the show and was incredibly nice to us. He actually helped put together this stellar band Los Hanky Pankys which consisted of Evan Myaskovsky (bass), Joel Polacc (percussion) and Ramses Rodriguez (Drums), all very sweet, friendly people. This group of folks made it incredibly difficult for us to say goodbye when this 4 day long dream came to an end. We really hope to be back again to create some more memories and feel the warm, loving vibes we felt on this trip.

Here are some pics for you all to enjoy but honestly, you had to be there!

Thank you JoeJoe! Were back so let's plan that stuff!

I remember the original with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn with fondness, I know for today's standards the old movie might look a bit "sexist" hahah but remember it with fondness and was very romantic. I'm curious about the remake, though I don't know what to feel about the gender swap. It's great you are part of the soundtrack, congratulations.
