37 hours travel, My last destination was the abandoned old port

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

I featured this beautiful place several times on my blog and yesterday i spend time together with friend to have a quick splashing time with this cool place again. It is a public place where everyone can go to swim. Yesterday, it was a quite place, no one in there except us. Saturday and Sunday is a crowded time people are gather in this place to enjoy the swimming.

The place was a Phelix Mining Port, its an international port was used to be a station transporting copper to other countries. Decade ago, the company decided to shut down the business. And today, it became one of the public tourist spot and destination.

The place is situated just in front of popular Danjugan Island located at Bulata Negros Occidental.

Not white sand but pebbles

This is free beach to enjoy, no cottages but you can bring tent, not white sand but febbles. You will enjoy the whole thing when you get there.

The place is still under the company name, so no one dares to put any cottages or anything that to make business. It just for everyone to enjoy the place, you can bring your things, bring your own foods and etc but no allowed to build any establishment in there.

There are blue guards monitoring the area, to make the place secure and to look over the metal scrap. But people going in for a break and enjoy the place to swim, they are free to go during day time. You can't stay from 6pm to 6 am.

Standing in front of the Danjugan Island

Danugan Island is wellknown island preserving wild and marine life. It was featured several times in National Geographic as well.

Standing in front of that popular island, wishing to be visit that place someday. It is open for everyone, for those who love to visit that island but you have to book your schedule earlier. You are allowed to visit for some reason, if you want to learn the advocacy of that area, if you want to write about species and different animals that can be found in that island, if you want to have take photos in connection of preserving wild life and marine life.

If you want to go there just to enjoy swimming and stay, better not to. This island is open to students and individuals who are concerned about biodiversity, protecting wildlife and spreading the same advocacy.

Rotten old port

Was once an active and productive port. Japanese vessels, american cargo ships and etc used to docked in that place to pick up and transport copper and other minerals to other countries. But today, its rotten port.

The history of that place will never be forgotten by the people around. It was once a company that gave several jobs to residence. It was like a city before that there even a hotels and motels and department stores. After the company stop their business, it became like a ghost town. Slowly waves destroy the area where you can see big rocks are emerged from anywhere.

Still the place provide good benefits to people, only the area where open for everyone to swim and picnic.
