5/5 Pappa Curry Laksa NT$280

Wow. If you've never had Malaysian food before, please do yourself a "flavor" and go try out PappaRich Malaysian Cuisine 金爸爸. I love curry, so naturally I had to try to the Pappa Curry Laksa and it's one of the best dishes I've ever tried. PappaRich Malaysian Cuisine 金爸爸 is so good, it inspired me to take a trip to Kuala Lumpur and after eating there, I know that Papparich is among the highest level restaurants for Malaysian cuisine.

5/5 Pappa Curry Laksa NT$280
Wow. (cue Owen Wilson). "Wow." It's super good. I've been to PappaRich Malaysian Cuisine 金爸爸 several times and can't help getting the Pappa Curry Laksa over and over. Luckily I go with friends so I can sample other dishes so I can definitely confirm this is my favorite item at PappaRich Malaysian Cuisine 金爸爸 and I could probably eat it every day.

The curry laksa is thick, full of flavor, spicy and includes noodles, super tender chicken, fried tofu, bean sprouts and a hard boiled egg. You can cut the chicken with just your chopsticks! Each bit is infused with deliciousness

5/5 Pappa Tissue Prata (roti) NT$130

This thing is massive on size and taste. If you've never had this before, it's completely hallow on the inside and is presented as a giant standing cone. It's like a fried Asian tortilla with sugar all over it. Yes, sugar. This is a great after meal treat...or if you want to get crazy like me you can dip it in your Curry Laksa.

The Pappa Tissue Prata (roti) at PappaRich Malaysian Cuisine 金爸爸 is crispy along the edges of the roti, and soft along the inside. To eat it, don't break off pieces from the top of the cone. That's what I did and is the worst way to try and eat it. Just rip small pieces from the side and the roti should definitely be eaten the same day Since you are given a lot, I took some home and tried to eat it the next day...completely hard.

4/5 Chili Crab Fried Rice NT$260

It's pretty good and full of flavor, but the dish is more sweet than spicy. When I hear "chili crab" I'm searching for a spicy kick.

4/5 Teh Tarik (iced) NT$100

This is the famous milk-tea style drink of Malaysia that is typically served with a lot of foam. It was good and not too sweet which I liked.

Money In Taiwan

Tax Is Included In The Price

All displayed prices in Taiwan are the actual price. Tax is already included and for large purchases, tourists visiting Taiwan can get a 5% Taiwan VAT refund at the airport Tax Refund counter. Some shops offer this service too, but they will require your passport.

Taiwan Is Cash Only (For Most Small Shops)

The primary payment method for all transactions in Taiwan is cash. It's very rare for small shops to take anything other than cash. It's more common to see places accept the Taipei Metro Card as payment rather a credit card.

Supermarkets and convenience stores in Taiwan (7-Eleven, Family Mart) do not accept credit cards (at least not American credit cards). You can only make purchases by cash or by using your pre-loaded funds on your EasyCard.

Using Credit Cards in Taiwan

If you want to use your credit card in Taiwan, make sure to check if a restaurant in Taiwan accepts credit card in advance. When a place does accept credit card, it will typically be Visa or Mastercard. It's extremely rare for a place to accept Discover and American Express. UberEats, HonestBee, Deliveroo and FoodPanda are Taipei Food Delivery Services where you can order food directly to your airbnb or hotel using a credit card.

Exchanging Money in Taiwan

You can exchange money at the airport or any bank in Taiwan. The rates vary from bank to bank and it can be a hassle to get a good rate. For additional information, check out my Exchanging Money In Taiwan Guide.

Many people come to Taipei to try out Taiwanese food and end up eating at low quality places meant for tourists. This is because they don't know where the best restaurants to eat in Taipei are or because they were recommended food by a tourist rather than Taiwan Travel Blog that has researched and tried all the best Taipei eats.
