Traditional Chinese market.

in #travel7 years ago

Last Saturday I was at an ancient traditional market in my city. The market is the whole street, which is located near the river. It's called "Heng Street". This translates as a cross street. One can say this is one of the best preserved ancient markets in China. Here is a view of the street.

There are still a few more modern markets in Suzhou, but prices here are usually cheaper than others. Therefore, every day many people come here for fresh food, including my parents.

Here they trade also in the old image. The merchants are weighed by the ancient bezmen. No one uses a calculator. You can also bargain with the sellers, you should not be embarrassed at all. In addition to regular traders, local peasants come here. They are here for the season selling agricultural products, which they themselves grow.

In addition to products, there are many small buffets and cafes. You can even buy your clothes on this street.

This is a typical breakfast for us)

The most common freshwater fish we have. Yes, we only buy them alive.

Fresh seasonal vegetables.

Different beans.

It will probably scare you. And we buy poultry live. (So they are cut in the market)

And our favorite soy products!

The market is a society and people's life in miniature, and a very interesting place in our journey.
