Today I'm gonna write about Jecheon(제천): one of the most beautiful provinces. It's quite big area so I recommend to stay as long as possible. Maybe Danyang(단양) would be a good option to go to around together. If your base is Seoul, you better to plan at least 2 days. It takes less than 2 hours by car from Seoul to Jecheon so if you want, 1 day trip is okay. But Jecheon has many amazing places worth for visit.

Cheongpung Cultural Heritages Complex (청풍 문화재 단지)

If you want 'something very Korean', it's perfect place for you. It will give you not only stunning view but also history of this beautiful province. It has 2 small museums inside: One is about the history of Jecheon, another one is memorial hall for the ruins underwater.

It's located just beside of Jeongpung lake. You can see Cheongpung bridge at the center of this picture and Korean traditional roof of some houses on the right side. I've been there in August so there are fresh green leaves and red flowers everywhere. It was so lovely, indeed.

There's 4 letters on the tall rock: Cheong Pung Meyng Wol. Yeah, that "Chengpung" is same as the name of this area. It means "Fresh wind, Bright moonlight". Somehow it feels romantic (:

Even the trail is so cool as well. When you go along with this nice road,

you almost get the peak of this huge complex. Enjoy the beauty of Cheongpung with breeze.

You can enjoy Korean traditional game with 4 wooden sticks in the yard of 100 years old house.

Or you can study the history of Jecheon. This shows a rural village in 1970's. 61 villages including that one in Jecheon province are now underwater. Chungju-Dam was built in 1985. Many people lost their hometown but the dam helps all people who lives along Han river. I live in Seoul and I use water everyday so I should appreciate for it, too.

Cruise Tour on Cheongpung Lake

Right beside of Chengpung Heritages Complex is the dock to get a cruise on Cheongpung lake. It has several routes and you can select it. It depends on the weather so you better to check it before you arrive. I choose a round trip for 1hr 30mins to see Danyang together.

Honestly, everything was amazing. The weather, a very funny guide by the captain, the feeling of sliding on the water... But I would say the most impressive scene was that silky rock mountain. It's name is "Geumsu". It says the name is from a poem. Lee Hwang a scholar and a mayor lord of Danyang in Mid-Choson period was touched with a stunning view of this mountain. So he made a poem like "Oh, look at the mountain: like an great embroidery on the soft silk". I can't agree with him more than this.

Well, even if you don't go well-known places, you can enjoy lovely nature everywhere.

Yes, finally here comes one of the most important things in our life. lol

Yes, it's a typical spread in Korea style.😄 25,000 won (23$) per person. The signature menu of this restaurant is Bibimbap 비빔밥 with various herbs. Herbs were seasoned well. Everything was good.

Well, but I prefer this restaurant. They served a variety menu and it seems they study a lot. Some are not that common. It seems they tried to mix some different cuisine. It gives more joy to enjoy big lunch. Their signature menu is one of be-loved menu for many Korean: Dduk-gal-bi 떡갈비.

It's a grilled beef patties with soy sauce. I'm sure almost everyone would love it! Of course, I love it, too.😍

Timetable for your 1 day trip to Jecheon

It takes around 7 hours all together. But there're many nice places in Jecheon province. It would be great just doing nothing in adorable nature.

Cheongpung Heritage Complex including hiking to the top of the hill & museums.
There are lots of heritages so if you look into deeply, it needs more time than 2 hours.

The round trip needs 1.5 hours but you should be at the dock 30 minutes earlier to depart.

Restaurants I've been were so kind and nice. Everything was served quickly. Commonly, the restaurant in Korea serves 'sweet coffee' for free. It's worth to try at least once.
