This ride may not be one of the newest attractions at Disneyland, but it still thrills visitors of all ages.

SILLY SYMPHONY SWINGS

The Silly Symphony Swings ride was inspired by the classic Mickey Mouse cartoon, "The Band Concert." The cartoon was released in 1935 and featured Mickey trying to conduct an orchestra outdoors, while Donald Duck takes on the role of Pied Piper, and leads the strings astray with his flute, encouraging them to play a more patriotic tune.

The idea behind this ride, is that you are sitting calmly on the swings until a tornado hits the orchestra! This flings you spinning and swinging through the air in the musical chairs along to the tune of William Tell's "The Storm".

The tornado gets stronger, and the swing seats rise higher, the carnival top tilts wildly around.. this way and that and you get a magnificent view over Disneyland. For a minute and a half, the rider's feet dangle freely and the swings fly through the air and around the tower. On top of the tower is Mickey himself!

Sometimes the simple pleasures are the best!
