Myanmar: Yangon and Shwedagon Pagoda
I took these pics during a trip to Myanmar about 5 years ago. Most of them where shot in, or around Yangoon. I hope you enjoy them. Myanmar is an amazing and often misunderstood place. Yangon (Rangoon) is the former capital and the country's largest city with about 6 million people. The military government officially moved the capital to Naypyidaw in 2006, so these pics were taken a few years after that. The Shwedagon Pagoda you can see in the pics is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar. The pagoda is mostly gold, and the crown is tipped with more than 5000 diamonds and 2000 rubies, while a 76 carat diamond sits at the very top
Great pics, have you been to Mandalay, Bagan or any other interesting parts of Burma? How easy is it to travel around there? thanks.
