How to Catch a Wave in the City of Bangkok!

in #travel7 years ago

If you want to duck out of the office and catch a few lunchtime waves...well you can. Great food, massive shopping malls and hedonistic nightlife is what this city trades on, but finding things to do during the day can often be difficult. So, many Bangkokians head out of town en masse every weekend, usually to one of the nearby beaches. But these beaches are at least 2 hours away, often have horrendous traffic, and most importantly there are NO waves! However, right in the middle of the city is a tropical oasis, complete with waves, beers, tunes and bikini surfer babes...Halelujah!

In the Middle of the City!

FLOWHOUSE BANGKOK

Flow House opened in 2012, and was the first of its kind in Thailand. The beach club immediately gained a following with both expats and locals, adults and kids. It was a great place to escape the city or at least pretend to, for a few hours. Bamboo and grass huts, surfboards on the ceiling and music all add to the beach vibe. There is also a cafe surfing hot burgers and cold beer.

Although Thailand has some beautiful beaches, it lacks the conditions to enable any kind of consistent surfing. Having a simulated flowriding venue seemed like a logical alternative. At Flow House there is a simulated wave machine which although different to a traditional wave, is still plenty of fun to ride...and can actually hurt when you fall.
