Camino de Santiago - The Way of St. James - The Pilgrims's Way
The Camino de Santiago, also known by the English names Way of St. James, is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes, which lead to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain. Tradition says that the remains of the saint are buried here. Many people undertake this route as a spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth.
During the middle ages, this was considered one of the most important Christian pilgrimages. During the winter of 2004, I undertook several sections of the walk. Here are some of my photos from the section starting at St. Jean Pied de Port in Southern France and crossing the Pyranees into Spain. It was one of the most beautiful walks I have ever done. The pics were taken about 12 years ago on a basic digital camera, so excuse the poor quality. I hope you enjoy them. One day, I would like to return and complete the entire walk.
