Saturday Market @ Old Mans in Canggu, Bali

Yesterday after lunch we went to the Original Canggu Market which is held at a place called Old Mans right at a famous surfing beach here on Bali.

It´s some kind craft market were lots of vendors sell their art, food, clothes and other pretty cool stuff.

Gestern nach dem Mittagessen sind wir zum Original Canggu Market gegangen, der im Old Mans direkt an einem berühmten Surfstrand hier auf Bali stattfindet.

Es ist eine Art Kunsthandwerksmarkt, auf dem viele Händler ihre Kunst, Lebensmittel, Kleidung und andere coole Sachen verkaufen.

There are a few of these markets here on Bali, but this one is one of the most famous. It is held only every first saturday of the month and therefore is pretty crowded.

I remember when I visited that market for the first time about 4 years ago. At this time there were only a few vendors and the quality of the products wasn´t really good.

But now they are selling really good high quality products and I really have to say that the creativity of the people selling their stuff here has absolutely no limit.

Es gibt einige dieser Märkte hier auf Bali, aber dieser ist einer der berühmtesten. Es findet nur jeden ersten Samstag im Monat statt und ist daher ziemlich überfüllt.

Ich erinnere mich, als ich diesen Markt vor ungefähr 4 Jahren zum ersten Mal besuchte. Zu dieser Zeit gab es nur wenige Anbieter und die Qualität der Produkte war nicht wirklich gut.

Aber jetzt verkaufen sie wirklich gute Qualitätsprodukte und ich muss wirklich sagen, dass die Kreativität der Leute, die hier ihre Sachen verkaufen, absolut keine Grenzen hat.

If you´re a person who likes jewellery this market would be haven for you. There is so many booth selling jewellery that you can´t count them. Clothes are also a big thing. Mainly for woman, but you will also find some cool stuff for men, especially t-shirts with cool prints on it. I probably going to buy the one on the photo next time.

Like on every asian market you have to check the prices as some stuff is faire priced but other stuff needs some negotiation.

I do not wear any jewellery and probably never will, but even I´m impressed by the creativity.

Wenn du eine Person bist, die Schmuck mag, ist dieser Markt ein Paradies für dich. Es gibt so viele Schmuckstände, dass man sie nicht zählen kann. Kleidung ist auch eine große Sache. Hauptsächlich für Frauen, aber es gibt auch coole Sachen für Männer, insbesondere T-Shirts mit coolen Prints. Ich werde wahrscheinlich das nächste Mal das auf dem Foto kaufen.

Wie auf jedem asiatischen Markt muss man die Preise überprüfen, da einige Dinge zu fairen Preisen angeboten werden, andere jedoch ausgehandelt werden müssen.

Ich trage keinen Schmuck und werde es wahrscheinlich auch nie tun, aber auch ich bin beeindruckt von der Kreativität.

Umweltfreundliche, wiederverwendbare und recycelte Produkte

Since Bali and other indonesian islands are drowning in plastic waste, these kind of products getting more and more popular and this is very good.

After many years of producing plastic products and single used products, people getting back to their roots using material like cork, wood, fabrics, aluminium or recycle plastic packagings to build other useful products.

It´s great to see such a progress here on the island and hopefully it continues and grows in the future.

Da Bali und andere indonesische Inseln in Plastikmüll ertrinken, werden diese Produkte immer beliebter und das ist sehr gut.

Nach vielen Jahren der Herstellung von Kunststoffprodukten und Einwegprodukten kehren die Menschen zu ihren Wurzeln zurück und verwenden Materialien wie Kork, Holz, Stoffe, Aluminium oder recyceln Kunststoffverpackungen, um andere nützliche Produkte herzustellen.

Es ist großartig, einen solchen Fortschritt hier auf der Insel zu sehen und hoffentlich geht er weiter und wächst in der Zukunft.

Kunst und andere coole Sachen

The people here do not worry much about whether something can be sold or not, they just make it. One reason might be that the production and material costs are quite low here on the island.

Anyway, they produce some really cool, funny and creative stuff.

Die Menschen hier machen sich nicht viele Gedanken darüber ob sich etwas verkaufen lässt oder nicht, sie machen es einfach. Ein Grund könnte sein, dass die Produktions- und Materialkosten hier auf der Insel recht niedrig sind.

Wie auch immer, sie produzieren einige wirklich coole, lustige und kreative Sachen.

Essen und Getränke

Where there is a market there is always food, that is not different on Bali. Most of the food here is healthy and vegan and people always try to invent the next big thing.

Healthy lemonades, dairy free muffins or protein balls which are very high in nutrition.

Wo es einen Markt gibt, gibt es immer Essen, das ist auf Bali nicht anders. Das meiste Essen hier ist gesund und vegan und die Leute versuchen immer, das nächste große Ding zu erfinden.

Gesunde Limonaden, Muffins ohne Milchprodukte oder Protein Bällchen mit hohem Nährwert.

I can only recommend to visit that market if you´re near and buy something, because this is the cool stuff nobody else is wearing at home.

Ich kann nur empfehlen, diesen Markt zu besuchen, wenn du in der Nähe bist und etwas zu kaufen, da dies das coole Zeug ist, das niemand sonst zu Hause trägt.
