India Bytes: Jaipur City Walls
The ONE time there was slow traffic; chanced a pic while I made a mad dash for the other side.
Jaipur’s old city is encircled by walls with 3 gates; Suraj Pol (☀️Sun Gate), Chand Pol (🌝Moon Gate) and the Northern Gate which faces Amer, the city ruled by Maharaja Jai Singh II, after whom Jaipur is named. (Hindi: Jai-Name, Pur-City)
)The wall burns a ✨bright terracotta in sunlight and is covered with intricate facades. 🌸It is made of pink and red sandstone, similar to the 🌬Hawa Mahal.
