SOUTH KOREA impressions #6 : BULGUKSA TEMPLE (40 photos)
Dear online travelers, who love sacred places, here you will find 40 photos from the beautiful Bulguksa temple in South Korea. The temple is a colorful Buddhist art pearl born in the legendary Silla kingdom. In 1995, Bulguksa was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is located in Gyeongju /Kyongju/ area on the slopes of Mount Toham. The temple belongs to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism tradition. There are nine national treasures of South Korea located in the temple area.
Around 528 there has been a small temple building. The current temple has been constructed under King Gyeongdeok in 751 and completed in 774 by the Silla royal court.
The temple is an amazing location to spend a thoughtful, peaceful day, to dive deep into the history of Korea and feel the past. The temple has seen many historical events, has been damaged and rebuild. I would love to go back there again.
Many travelers from the West go often to Asia but visit mostly Thailand and India. South Korea is a magical colorful country and has some of the world most beautiful temples. I would highly recommend you to think about visiting this land one day.
