My hitch hiking adventure to the rainbow gathering (day 1)[part 2]
note: I wrote this 7 day ago, before I went to rainbow gathering and was to busy finding a ride while hitchhiking to finish. Then ran out of reception as I traveled into the national forest in Oregon for the rainbow gathering, so I wasn't able to post it until now.
If you haven't read part 1 then you can read it here.
Back on the road again
Waiting on these road...... again, pointing my thumb straight in the air while @danilamarilu and Arturo do the same. Almost like we were trying to send a message to the heavens to transport us to our destination.
We stationed ourselves right after the on ramp, Holding a sign that said "OKC Please" while using the hitch hikers thumb. We continued doing that for a while but we felt people couldn't stop quick enough, so we decided to walk down further towards the first highway sign we saw.
We stopped once we arrived at a large highway sign that had shade but because of the walk we were exhausted; some of us even more so than others.
We continued using our hitch hiking technique, which seemed to work better in this spot because cars and trucks were honking and waving; Which seemed most likely to be a positive reaction?
After being stationed there for what felt like an hour, @danilamarilu was becoming overheated and feeling like she was going to faint. Fortunately that is right around the time when someone pulled to the side of the road to us.
Our prayer manifested from thy one who prayed
We quickly walked and ran to the white truck with a pick up in the back. When we were close enough to see the driver and say hi, we realized who it was driving. It was Michael, who gave us cold water bottles and prayed for us before we left the casino parking lot earlier.
As we were loading our stuff in the car, he was telling us how he just got off work and thought we would be gone.
He said he could drive us 30 mins north to were his house is; We happily agreed and said,"thank you".
As he drove to our destination, he was telling us that he was glad we were ok. He really was a kind person with a strong belief in Christianity.
He told us that his job was to maintain and fix the air conditioning units in the casino. We continued to have small talk off and on before we arrived.
He told us he knew of a good location right off the highway with many gas stations and fast food restaurants. We agreed that it would be a good place.
When we pulled up to the loves gas station, Michael asked if we were hungry and pointed to McDonald's. I said,"we could also get something at the braums (which was in plain sight on the other side of the highway) instead unless someone wants McD's more."
Nobody really cared so we went to braums. We all ended up having milkshakes, except @danilamarilu who mostly ate the French fries we ordered. Michael said that he would pay for everyone.
Michael talks about how he didn't want to push his idea/religion on anyone. He explained that he just wants to help people and share the things that help him feel fullfilled in his life.
After having cool refreshing milkshakes with Michael, we said he could take us back to the loves gas station now and we would continue our journey.
He dropped us off at the gas station then
We said goodbye to Michael and thanked him for everything.
We become famous and meet a friendly visitor
We sat out front of loves with Arturo and I playing guitar while @danilamarilu held the OKC sign.
We asked many people if they were driving north but it seemed liked everyone who we talked to lived in the area.
We did receive lots of friendly conversation and some good tips for our guitar playing.
We realized that this spot wouldn't work. so we walked to the side of the highway, past the on ramp, To the closest highway sign.
We positioned ourselves for hitch hiking again and focused our energy to manifest a ride.
arturo and @danilamarilu were doing the thumb and sign, while I searched online through social media and craigslist rides to the rainbow gathering.
@danilamarilu started getting hot and frusterated, so then she started giving the middle finger to some of the cars as they drove by.
A few minutes later we saw a car pull over to pick us up. As the car came closer we saw that the car had lights on the top of it and realized it was a police car.
As the highway patrol walked up to us he asked us how we were doing. We said we were doing good.
He told us he got a call about us running into the highway. We told him we never did that. I asked him if hitchhiking was illegal and he said no.
Once he realized it was a false report, he asked up if there was anything he could help us with. Arturo asked if he could give us a ride if he was going north? He told us we could but would be disappointed because he was just taking the next exit, so we let him go and said goodbye.
Carter's Restaurant
We stayed longer to get a ride but at 8:45 pm we just agreed to get a hotel for the nigh; we realized we should have taken the ride with the cop car now.
We finally walked all the way to the exit ramp and 2 hotels; Which were starting to look costly now.
I noticed my phone was dead and @danilamarilu saw a restaruant connoted to the (expansive) Holliday inn. So we all decided it would be a good idea to eat.
After we were seated at our table, by a small black women with blonde hair, we noticed it was karaoke! We started talking about which song we should sing.
Arturo and I went up to the karaoke DJ and asked him which song were available. He told us we would have to name an artist because he had 80,000 song available for karaoke.
We decided it would be best to first order our food. When the waiter arrived, who was a white medium sized women, we all ended up ordering veggie burgers .
After our orders were taken, another waiter came by and gave Arturo a folded piece of paper; she said it was from the women who seated us at our table.
Arturo opened the paper and saw her number on it. He was happy because he said she was hot. He put her number in his phone and immediately started texting her.
When our food arrived I zucchini had no avacado (which I had ordered) so once I told her she gave me a half slice of a big avocado.
I checked my phone, that I was charging, to se. How much it was charged. When I checked Bryan had texted "leaving casino now", then he texted a second time saying "where are you at".
Preparing for nightfall
I texted him back my location and waited for him to respond. After a while I decided to call him and see where he was. When I called he was already 50 exits away, he wanted to make it to OKC by at least midnight. To help his friend. He felt bad about passing us while he was driving but I said it was ok.
We were just about done with all of our veggie burgers. It looked like the were closing, the karaoke was finished. We decided to leave before they kicked us out.
Crashing at super 8
We found a super 8 about 7 min walk away, since it was the cheapest we decide to go there. Meanwhile Arturo has been texting the girl from the restaurant the whole time. He was talking about getting his own room cause she wanted to come over. It soon became to complicated so we just decided to shared a room.
After successfully moving our stuff to the room we immediately laid down. Letting our bodies relax, to prepare for a succssesful day hiking tomorrow

I haven't been to a rainbow gathering in a long time! They sure are an adventure!
I used to hitchhike everywhere. Been to just about every state in the USA hitchhiking. Its kinda hard work a lot of times, but the freedom and adventure are worth it. I bet its harder to hitchhike these days than it used to be...Generally speaking I have found that people who pick up hitchhikers are very kind and often christian.
Its so amazing the experiences that unfold when just going with the flow. Im sure ur having lots of them and wish u all the best. Keep up the prayers!
Bless~*~
Yeah, it really was an adventure, especially hitchhiking there. I actually didn't know that you have hitchhiked that much. The adventure of hitchhiking is the best part, you never know what type of person will pick you up. It is definitely hard work at time, not for those who need to control situations. It is harder to hitch hike now days I think, people have a lot more fear and truck driver aren't allowed to pick up hitchhikers. Exactly, I had so many experiences that would have never happened if I tried to plan things a certain way. Thanks brother, it was such an amazing journey, just arrived back in Texas a couple of days ago. Wishing you the best too.
Lovin' you~~
Yea I have hitched back and forth the entire county many a times. Everything u said is accurate.
Life, what a ride!
I just saw ur mom last night at an epic party.
Blessings~*~
Awesome! Yeah, I couldn't guess how my life has unfolded even if I tried.
Oh yeah, I heard that she saw you. Would like to see you again and hang out soon ^_^
yea the future is infinitely variable. Best is to just be here now!
Yea saw her at the party, she looks just like she did 10 years ago!
Yes it is. I know how to be here now but I am learning to create the vision of how I want to see the projection of myself in the world.
haha that is funny. Yeah she said it was a really fun party and that you/GOE provided the food for the event.
Yes we did, it was EPIC and everyone raved about the food!
Yeah, that is exactly how I heard about it!
Loving you brother! I was at the gathering for 3 days before I had to head East. Glad to see rainbow fam on steem. Maybe we will cross paths some day. Blessings.
Lovin' you too! Awesome it was an amazing gathering. Yeah rainbow steem family is growing :) yeah who know where our path may lead. Blessing to you too.
80K songs is probably not unexpected and I guess naming an artiste is the easiest way to reduce the list.
Lol 80k songs was unexpected for me :p but yeah I think you are right. Makes it easier to not have a list.
