Lempuyang Dragons
Lately I have been thinking about Dragons a lot. Possibly because of a augmented reality game that I play. Or may be due to a certain individual who is interested in them. Whatever it is I saw a lot of Dragons during my recent trip to Bali. Yes, yes, not real ones:

They are from the famous Lempuyang Temple from East Bali. It is not difficult to get to, but a bit out of the way. Takes nearly a full day driving commitment from the population centers to the south of the island.

And it is not just Dragons. All the sculptures are nicely preserved possibly renovated, as it is a 8th Century Temple. Yep that loud speaker is out of place! What can I do :)

Lots of stone guardian dragons in Bali.... With big fierce faces and teeth to scare away the bad and protect the good - at least that's what the beliefs are all about. Many times the hard tough scales just protect a soft heart... which is mostly true of Man too, if you look hard enough...

Imposing stone guardians have certainly served as an inspiration for many a game. though they're rarely as intricate in design.
It took me an embarrassingly long moment to process that the green growth in the second photo is of the strategically planted flower kind -- shame on me for jumping towards "neglected overgrowth" first :|
If you don't mind me asking, what is the AR game you mentioned? It's... It's Pokemon GO, isn't it?
