Iconic Ulun Danu Beratan
If you just do a google search on "Bali Temple" most likely the first image hit will be Ulun Danu Beratan shown below. Along with perhaps Uluwatu, it is the most visited iconic Balinese Temple. It is classic, with correct backdrop being in the middle of the lake, mountains all around it, high elevation, misty often.....and unfortunately overly loved!

It is extremely hard to get this place without people, forget about to yourself. I tried very hard to take the people out in both shots, but you can see that it is hard to do it from almost any angle. It is the most visited temple in Bali. I was there during middle of the afternoon, which didn't help either. I recommend early morning, or near dusk visit to get is managable

Vertical shots are common in Balinese temples as their crests, Merus, reach sky high. If you look carefully you can find completely out-of-place paddle boats! So annoying! Bali government, temple authorities, whoever with power; please get rid of those paddle boats from that lake! And while you are at it, can you please ban all selfie sticks at the same time :) LOL

Haha... no wonder I had better views when I visited in a drizzle... and it was all misty, covering up all paddle boats (or maybe because no one dared to venture out into the mist on the lake!) - just plain mysterious white backdrops.... Temples floating in the mist! :)
