#18 : Summer'17 - Unforgettable
And I'm finally back.. Had an amazing summer. Now I'm back to college.
Traveled and explored to new places of this planet.
So it was family trip and came around at the best time, when I really needed one.
Following were the places that I had an opportunity to explore on this trip : Singapore, Malaysia (Penang island and Kuala Lumpur) and Indonesia (Bali).
I also went to Goa with my cousins right after this trip.
PART 1 : SINGAPORE
So the first place on our travel list was the beautiful and highly developed country; Singapore. This was our first trip outside of our own country, so we took package deal from one of the travel agencies which I think is convenient for the first timers.
Some facts about the city : Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-cultural island city. Majority of the population consist of Chinese, Indians and Malays. The Merlion is icon of the city. One can identify it as a statue with lion's head and fish's tail.
We arrived at around noon after a long flight from Mumbai to Singapore. For the evening we had Night Safari (nocturnal zoo). It is a must visit attractions of the place. I don't really have pictures worth sharing of the place because it is a night experience. And I also think pictures can't really capture the essence. They take on a ride in this huge well-planned artificial forest. And you see these animals on your sides, not caged but are parted using water channels kind of thing. They have a tape recording providing all sorts of information and facts about them. It's a long ride along the flora and fauna. On the particular day of our visit, it started raining a bit, which made the experience a lot more interesting. :)
Then for next three days we had cruise. Round trip to Singapore, exploring Malaysia in between.
I'll share about it in my next post. Then we came back to Singapore. We covered all the major spots like Gardens by the Bay, Singapore flyer, Sentosa Island and Universal Studios.
This is the Singapore flyer which is basically a huge wheel with number of capsules like chambers for people to sit in and enjoy the view of the beautiful city. It takes around 30 minutes for the wheel to take a round trip. And another thing that I found interesting was you have to get on and off the capsule while the wheel is moving. It moves really slow but it still was kind of fun.
Fact : There are only two such wheels, one in London and another in Singapore.
So these are some pictures taken from the flyer.
These are the Banks of Singapore. Yes, there are more than 100 Banks of Singapore each one of them standing tall with their skyscraper.
The intriguing domes are the part of Gardens by the Bay, another unique attraction. These domes are the conservatories: one named "the flower dome" and other "the cloud forest". It is very difficult for me to describe the place. I can say for sure that it is a must visit place. The Flower Dome had numerous and all kinds of flora. They also had sculptures; some conveying message while some to glorify the place even more. A few pictures of the place.
Pictures from 'The Cloud Forest'.
City view from the garden. It was truly mesmerizing.
Next stop was Sentosa island and Universal studios. It is a place for fun. Theater, awesome rides, food, water park, beach, huge aquarium and so much more. There are number of means to go to the island. We chose cable car. It took us two days to explore the place.
That's my superb family :)
One with hat is my dad, beside him my mother and in the superman t-shirt is my brother.
At the Universal Studios, they have this amazing show called " Wings of Time", wherein they explore mysteries of time and different ages, two youngsters along with a bird. I found the title to be interesting and drew an illustration on it.
All in all, I had an amazing time in Singapore. I was in awe of the city. The way it is planned, each part of the city. The city is made by the people. All the attractions are one of a kind.
