Welcome to steemit! It's a shame you're plans for the PCT fell through, but it sounds like The Great Divide trail was a blessing in disguise.
I'm looking into doing the Te Areroa trail in NZ too. I just recently went there for a month and instantly fell in love with NZ.
Anyways, I wish you good & safe travels on your adventure.
