Hiking & touring in the immediate countryside!

in #travel5 years ago

We felt spritely as we ventured out in the lovely bright early sunlight, in the beautiful rolling hills of the landscape.

It was the eighth day of our trip:

The self-serving Bali lodge we stayed in was situated in the hills, south of the town of Haenertsburg.

Having woken up to a glorious sunny morning, we decided that a hike in the hills in the sounding country of the Bali lodge would be great.

So starting out:

We took a pathway up, from the back of the lodge, which lead us on to this road below:

I took the photo when we had reached the top of the road, higher up the hillside.

Having reach that high point, we looked to our left, across a valley that beckoned us to investigate it’s deep expanse.

Crossing the valley:

We crossed that valley, much higher up the hillside, from the lodge. And on the other side of the valley, we climbed a very steep hillside.

And then turning right halfway up, we followed a narrow horizontal trail path, until we eventually enter a forest on less steep ground.

The forest realm:

It felt cooler in between the tall tree, after been in the hot morning, because the trees blocked out the sunlight to some extent.

First looking around, and then we followed another path that took us down the sloping hillside, northwards somewhat and parallel to the valley. And in due course we came out of the forest.

And this is the photo I took of the scene before us:

Even though we had taken water with us, we started to feel tired and drained after trekking up steep hill sides and down dale! And of cause picking off barbed weeds wasn’t fun. It makes you feel hot and bothered.

Resting for a while to gain strength, we then took a path going downhill, lower down from the valley.  And it wasn’t long before we were back to the Bali lodge.

And along that path on the way back, I looked around for a possible scene to photograph. And this is the scene I found:

After lunch:

We took the car and went into the centre of the Ebenezer Dam reserve area. See the map:

Our daughter drove around searching for the best position and view of the dam, so I could take a decent photo shot of the dam.

Here is a panoramic view I stitched together for you to see of the dam.

That evening:

Our daughter had contacted an old friend, and so that night we were due to have supper with her friend in the town of Haenertsburg. And so we spent a lovely evening with her friend.

The next day:

We spent the day at another lovely flower place… but that I will tell you about in the next post, in our travel series.

Hi. How are you doing? Busy as usual!
Yip, it was a lovely day out in the country.

Look like the weather is hot.

Yes, it was spring time then, when we went on our trip together.
But at the moment it's winter time in South Africa.

Amazing dear @artguru you took a photo highest place. I also wish to view that's scene but I am not yet go ahead because the lack of time.

We have world most beautiful hiking places, I invite you to come and enjoy

Thanks for the invite. But I don't think we are going travelling overseas just yet. Have big oil painting commission coming up that will take me back to Cape Town perhaps by Christmas.

Without preparation it is difficult to walk on the hills, but the landscapes are worth it. Very beautiful nature.

Really beautiful scenery. You are lucky having time to travel and have fun with your family. .
