The streets of HelsinkisteemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

We were in the Finnish capital once, in winter, during the holidays. The streets are not crowded, only a few shopping centers were opened, and we walked around the city - there is something to see. I want to share with you some episodes of that walks.

Finns are very fond of sports, and their champions are elevated to the rank of deities, it seems, it's some kind of their national athlete:

And this is the Lutheran Church of St. John:

The monument to composer Sibelius, a cool idea:

Modern arts just on the streets:

dragon-fly

Monument to russian czar Alexander the second, who is remembered and loved here, with him the Finnish principality developed, receiving unprecedented preferences and autonomy.

Near the monument is the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, about which I already told

On the edge of the city is a stern sea, which I also showed earlier

In the center of the city was opened a small free museum with an exposition on the history of Helsinki, here are a few photos from there:

Yes, yes, the very subject of everyday life :)

Ski and sledg:

And finally, Santa. This is how we saw it for the first time in Finland :)

Good luck!
