Our insider tip: Chilling at the Haselbacher lake

Last weekend we used the nice weather and chilled all day at Haselbacher See. Even many locals from the region do not know that there is on the beautiful lake, through which the border of Thuringia and Saxony was drawn, a fenced beach with wonderful playground, snack bar and toilet. You can park your car for free in front of the site.

The big lake is the result of coal mining, which has taken place in this region for almost 20 years. From here, the coal railway drove its cargo to Meuselwitz. The small train and many other old locomotives you can look at there and tell their story. The flooding of the terrain lasted 10 years. Unbelievable? Since one can only vaguely guess how deep this lake is.
In the surrounding villages you have holiday apartments available, if you want to spend a few days in this leisure and recreation area.

This area of ​​Haselbacher See is perfect for families - even with small children. Because the entry into the water is very shallow for a long distance and heaped up with soft sand. There is also a great playground on the clean terrain. There is a great pirate ship with a slide to discover. There is also a seesaw, a basket swing, climbing facilities and a water feature.
Paddling, sailing, surfing and rowing are also wonderful on Lake Haselbach. All around it is a path where you can do a bike ride or simply jog. Or you roam the surrounding forests and look at the small, sleepy villages.

On Haselbacher lake also regularly held events. Whether by sports clubs, which invite to sailing or to visit their competitions, pirate festivals, dragon boating, fishing and even disco.
