Feel tired of beaches and burning sun? Go visit Norway like I once did

If you love wild nature and appreciate the high quality of living, Norway is definitely a place to visit. Summer is the best season: it is green, it is sunny but not hot.

I’m sharing some pictures from the trip I did a while ago. Here it is - a week that cost us worth a fortune but was worth it as it is the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve ever visited.

10 things you will love in Norway:

Houses roofs covered with grass and wild flowers.

The tradition came from the past, when people put the soil on the roof to compress the logs and make the walls more solid. Soil was also a good natural insulator in a cold climate. Today soil on the roof is not necessary anymore to keep houses warmer and more solid. But Norwegian people still keep the tradition and here and there across the country you can see houses with grass and wild flowers growing up on the roof.

Sheep lying in the middle of the road.

The law forbids signaling as it disturbs wild animals so drivers have to stop and patiently wait until the sheep decides to move.

The Norwegian national soup.

If you follow a diet, forget about it. It’s very creamy with a ton of protein, the soup is cooked with a lot of salmon and mussels. This soup is the most nourishing dish I’ve ever had. Just one plate of soup with a piece of bread is enough so that you don’t feel hungry for the rest of the day.

Speaking about food… Near lakes, you can find cosy restaurants where you can get a freshly caught trout cooked directly by the owner right after he gets it out of the lake. The fish goes simply serviced with fresh salad and hot potatoes, no thoughts about michelin restaurants after that.

White nights

In summer, nights are almost as clear as days, no wonder i could not fall asleep.

Nice and beautiful people
with beautiful blonde hair, looking very healthy and pretty fit. In fact, anytime and anywhere you can see people jogging, walking, cycling, rowing.

Very cold and water in lakes and fjords, even in Summer.
The variety of blue colors although is incredible.

Breathtaking mountain roads.

Roads fit only for one car so there are and special platforms to put your car on and let other cars pass. I guess that’s why, norwegian drivers are very calm and careful. If you are from Paris, Naples, Moscow, New York or any big city where driving is a kind of sport or kind of a martial art, in Norway it is perceived more like a yoga retreat that still requires patience and precision.

The landscapes you don’t believe they may exist.

Waterfalls, lakes, forests, mountains do look like it’s a postcard. The nature changes with mountains gaining height and light changes every 5 minutes, it’s a paradise for photographers. You just can’t come back from Norway without amazing shots.

Internet availability.

You’ll find fast and persistent connection almost everywhere, even in absolutely wild places where there is only one house over 10 km.
