Italian fortness in Crimea.

Walking around Venice, listening to the tour about the history of this beautiful city, I very often heard about the competition of Italian city-states. Venice fought Genoa and Pisa for supremacy at sea. And immediately I remembered a trip to the Crimea, visiting the Sudak fortress, which used to be called Genoese.

The fact is that it was previously believed that it was the people from Genoa who were the main owners and builders of this base on the Black Sea coast. But recent research suggests that this is not entirely true.
There were also Venetians, and before them there were many other masters.
But the point is that my thoughts tore me from the perception of the Venetian beauties and dipped into Crimean travel.

I remembered a trip to Sudak to inspect the fortress. Just reaching the fortress impressive walls and towers.

You pass through the gate with the system of lifting these gates and all sorts of defensive tricks and you get into the courtyard.

The fortress is on a rock, the view from which is fascinating.

Now the slopes of the rock are deserted, but in the old days everything was in the buildings. Behind the walls of the fortress was a real city with temples, houses and shops.

Now the city is near to the fortress.

The fortress is quite large, but it pulls as high as possible - to the highest tower.

In this tower was the residence of the local ruler - the Doge.

In the fortress there is not a big museum. It is located in the temple. But only these old walls create a complete sense of immersion in history.

In addition, reservoirs with water have been preserved on the territory of the fortress. Water is a great value during the war and siege. In such tanks stored water in case of trouble.

At the usual time, water flowed into the city through a pipeline from the neighboring mountain according to the law of communicating vessels. Did all this Italian masters.
