Lake Park Hiking Trail and the Rich History of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
"Lake Park is an urban oasis that has been enjoyed by Milwaukeeans and visitors for generations. Lake Park Friends is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the preservation and enjoyment of Lake Park, to sponsor educational, recreational and cultural events in the park, and to raise funds for the restoration and enhancement of the park in the spirit of Frederick Law Olmsted." - http://lakeparkfriends.org/about/
I'm in Milwaukee visiting family, and this is not a typical hike so I won't be making my standard hiking trail guide intro but this trail still has plenty of good stops. My brother Andy @flowerpower, his dog Callie, and I took a hike through Lake Park yesterday. We personally love this park because it is downtown, right on Lake Michigan, has many different activity options and is only a couple miles from Andy's house!
Starting at the Lake Front and Grand Stair Case
We headed up the Grand Staircase to check out most of the sites and activities. As you can tell from the map above!
The Golf Course
It's a 18 hole course but not of normal size due to it's downtown location. It's mostly for practicing your short game. Basically a 9 iron and a putter are all that's needed. It's a fun, quick, and cheap course
The History
The Light House
Nothing really to add about the lighthouse the sign says it all.
General Erastus B. Wolcott
It was way to curved to get all of the writing in one shot. You'll just have to visit for yourself!
The Lions
I'm not sure if there is meaning behind the lions or if the creator of the park just picked them because they are cool!
The Waterfall
Lake Park Bistro
A very fancy and expensive restaurant located in the middle of the park. I've been lucky enough to go a few times but Andy and I are planning on fighting over the left over buffalo chicken pizza afterwards.
The End
I hope you enjoyed this beautiful spot surrounded by the city of Milwaukee as much as I do! Next week I'll be back in Las Vegas making one of my more typical hiking trail guides and playing the last of the WSOP. Let me know what interests you most about this park and I'll provide more information in the comments below!
Thank You for Your Time, Up Vote, ReSteem, Follow, and Promote!!!
That waterfall looks wicked cool. Good luck on the WSOP. Can you go in the lighthouse? Love parks that have historical merit.
I'm pretty sure you can!

It is pretty cool to see the lighthouse is still standing today.
