Melk by night / Stift Melk in der Nacht

On the way to Germany from Romania I drive always past Melk Abbey. Melk Abbeylies in Austria. I never stopped until that evening, because there was always an apology. The Baroque gem can be seen on the highway from afar.
This time we stopped because we did not have to go to work the next day.

auf den Weg nach Deutschland von Rumänien fahre ich immer an Stift Melk vorbei. Stift Melk liegt in Österreich. Bis zu dem Abend habe ich nie angehalten, weil es immer eine Entschuldigung gab. Das Barock Prachtstück kann man auf der Autobahn von weitem sehen.
Diesmal haben wir angehalten, weil wir mussten nicht am nächsten Tag arbeiten gehen.

The stairs that go from the parking lot to Melk Abbey are wonderfully lit. It makes you feel welcome.
Die Treppen die vom Parkplatz zur Stift Melk gehen sind wunderbar beleuchtet. Es verleit einen ein willkommenes Gefühl.
The gate was still open, despite the late hour.

The abbey fortress revealed itself after we passed the restaurant.

Die Stiftfestung enthüllte sich nach dem wir am Restaurant vorbei gegangen sind.

n Austria, as in Germany, there is the custom of the Advent calendar. Was surprised that the windows here have also shown an advent calendar.
In Österreich, wie in Deutschland gibt es den Brauch des Adventskalenders. War überrascht das die Fenster hier auch ein Adventskalender dargestellt haben.
The inner court was so quiet and peaceful. We could see the tower of the church.
There was only one exit towards the church open. So we had to go on a red carpet.

Das innere Hof war so still und friedlich. Man konnte den Turm der Kirche sehen.
Es war nur ein Ausgang Richtung Kirche offen. Da mussten wir auf einem roten Teppich gehen.

Unfortunately, everything was closed and we could not see so much. But we also promise to come here during the day to discover this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It should be absolutely in spring or summer so we also find the other court, the museum and the church open.
Leider war alles geschlossen und wir konnten nicht so vieles sehen. Wir happen uns aber versprochen auch während des Tages hier zu kommen, um dieses UNESCO Welterbe zu entdecken. Es soll unbedingt in Frühling oder Sommer sein damit wir auch das andere Hof offen finden.

Ha, da bist du mitten in der Nacht "eingebrochen" ;-)) Klasse. Ich bin vor ein paar Jahren auch mal daran vorbei gefahren. Wusste aber nicht, dass es sooo prachtvoll ist. Jetzt weiß ich es ;-)
