First time in Fiji and Visit to port of Denarau

I know I have been keep mentioning Fiji but I have realised lots of my friends do not know where is Fiji, some think it’s Mount Fiji from Japan.

Where is Fiji?

Fiji is one of the tropical islands that is located in South Pacific Ocean. The country has more than 300 beautiful islands. It is famous for its rugged mountains, palm tree beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons.The iconic product produced from Fiji is Fiji mineral water where u can purchase around the world .

Since it’s located at an isolated locations , the best way to fly in is from either Australia or newzealand. But you might need a transit visa if you are traveling via those countries , so make sure you check in advance.

Fiji visa

Most countries do not require visa enter . But if you are like me , who do need a visa , I would advise you to apply at least 2 months in advance as the processing time and response might take a while. Also it is required a visa for transit in Fiji if it’s more than 3 hours.

Today is our second day in Fiji and we went for a day trip to beachcomber island .

If you are spending for a few days and plan to do island hopping . You can buy Bula pass for boat transfer at fjd , so it’s about . Through my research , I was unable to find local transport that are affordable, it seems that foreigner are not allowed to use local transport ( I might be wrong, let me know in the comment if you know any info about public boat transport in Fiji )

Another thing that i have learnt is the cost in Fiji is Also pretty high .The main island is called Viti Levu where they have Nadi International Airport, which is near nadi town. The capital city is called Suva which is 4 hr drive from nadi town.

And in order to see picture perfect water Color island , you could stay in one of the main islands ( where they have Budget accommodation or higher end resorts . Or you can take day trip like us..

The day trips cost around $200 fjd . The package offer more or less the same itineraries. It include transfer from your hotel in nadi to the port , snorkeling gear , buffet lunch and other activities with local etc.

Denarau Island

Denarau island is home to Sheraton, Westin, Sofitel, Hilton etc. But it doesn’t feel like an island as it's attached to the mainland by a short causeway and there is no need for boat transfer.

Port of Denarau

It’s a place where u have to come to transfer to other islands. You can find lots of boat companys offering different activities.

There are also duty shops, but mind you it’s more expensive to buy here than in Singapore.

We booked our tour through the place we stayed. In the morning at 8 am, we were picked up and transferred us T the port of Denarau.

It’s a sailing boat and there are about 25 of us on the boat , around 7 crews. We are given a briefing and informed that the water is rough and that our location for snorkeling is changed to a calmer area.

This is not the boat though.

Off we go to beach comber island .
